SUNY Center for Professional Development

SUNY Center for Professional Development (SUNY CPD ) is a cooperative, voluntary organization funded by its members and the State University of New York's Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

The SUNY TC provides technology training and professional development activities, including courses, conferences, meetings, and networking opportunities, for more than 7500 SUNY faculty and staff annually. They also provide these services to non-SUNY institutions on a cost basis.

The Training Center with a staff of 12, delivers a growing suite of courses and professional development programs to faculty and staff on 40 SUNY campuses from its facilities in Syracuse. Its also supports SUNY professional conferences including the annual Conference on Instructional Technology, the Conferences on Computing in the Disciplines, the Wizards, the Teaching, Learning & Technology and Multimedia Instructional Designers Conferences, and others. It also increasingly acts as a professional meeting space, centrally located in New York State, to host important meetings and ad hoc sessions.

Their key SUNY clients and partners include other u-wide programs (The SUNY Learning Network, ITEC [SUNY technology service center in Buffalo State], SUNY Connect [SUNY library catalog online], as well as their 40 member campuses. They support and administer the largest all-SUNY conference, the Conference on Instructional Technologies, as well as several smaller u-wide conferences throughout the year.

New initiatives include: moving to an expanded, more secure, and more pleasant facility; renaming to SUNY Center for Professional Development; creation of 5-year plan to achieve self-sustaining operations through expanded marketing of services and creation of new revenue-generating programs.
